IoT Platforms

We can see a growth in numbers of IoT platforms. It does exist hundreds of IoT platforms (about 400 according to iot-analytics in Q1 2017). Among platforms, which provide the most comprehensive services belongs platform Watson IoT from IBM, platform ThingWorx from PTC, platform Azure IoT from Microsoft, platform AWS IoT from Amazon and platform Predix from GE. Among the main watched categories of IoT platforms belong ability to connect devices, security, device management, analytical tools, support for integration with other applications and support for fog computing. What are IoT platforms good for anyway? IoT platforms are PaaS (Platform as a Service), that allow you to simplify development, deployment and management of IoT systems. The above mentioned IoT platforms are commercial and therefore paid (often offer a trial period), but exist also opensource IoT platforms.
