Creating teams in YouTrack is a crucial step in effectively organizing your users based on the specific projects they’ll be working on. In the previous tutorial, we learned how to add users to YouTrack. Now, we’ll take those users and create a team in YouTrack within a project, setting the foundation for efficient teamwork and project success. Let’s dive in and get started! 🚀
Step 1: Navigate to Your Project
🔑 Log in to your YouTrack account with the appropriate credentials.
📂 Navigate to your project dashboard by clicking on the “Projects” tab.
🔍 Select the specific project in which you want to create a team. For this example, I’ll use the “ThingsBoard” project.
Step 2: Create a Team in YouTrack
Now that you’re in your project, follow these steps to create a new team:
⚙️ Click on the „Team“ option under the project settings.
➕ In the „Team“ section, click “Add Member” to start adding users to your team.
Step 3: Add Team Members
YouTrack makes it easy to add users to your team:
👤 From the list of users, select the members you’d like to add to the team.
🛡️ After selecting users, you will see how many standard user licences you have left. YouTrack allows up to 10 users on a free plan, so make sure you don’t exceed the limit.
✅ Click “Add Members” to finalize the team addition.
Step 4: Assign Roles to Team Members
Roles define the level of access and permissions each team member has in the project (this is controlled at team level – all team members have the same permissions):
🎭 Once your team is created, all users have the same roles that are assigned to the project team (e.g., Contributor).
